November Meeting: Ron Hazzard

Ron has been a public and private criminal defense attorney for 23 years. His specialty is homicide cases or cases classified as Serious and Most Serious (penalties of 20 years to Life Without Parole) in the South Carolina judicial system. Currently, he is the Senior Staff Attorney at the 15th Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office. The office serves both Horry and Georgetown counties in South Carolina. In 1984, he graduated with a B.S. in Political Science from the University of South Carolina. He earned his Juris Doctorate in 1987 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Ron has been a guest lecturer at numerous criminal defense workshops hosted by the South Carolina Bar Association.

Ronald is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense and the University of South Carolina Alumni Network. Outside of the courtroom, Ron and his fellow lawyers have teamed together to become Surfside Beach's reigning Trivial Pursuit champions. He also is an avid reader of mystery, thriller/suspense and science fiction books.
