Meet the Author with Bruce Borgos

Please join us as Penny Manson interviews Capitol Crimes member Bruce Borgos about his debut novel, The Bitter Past. The story follows Lincoln County, Nevada, Sheriff Porter Beck as he works to solve a gruesome murder that leads him back to the dawn of the atomic age and the hunt for a Soviet spy left behind all those years ago.

Bruce writes stories about families and the people who will do anything to protect them. If you enjoy contemporary fiction with themes of human struggle and the power of love, then you will enjoy Bruce’s novels. His most recent novel is The Bitter Past, released by MINOTAUR BOOKS on July 18, 2023. It’s a dual timeline story – the FIRST in a series – involving Nevada Sheriff, Porter Beck. He’s hunting a Russian assassin and is quickly caught up in a 60 year-old spy hunt from the dawn of the Atomic age and America’s ambitious program to beat the Soviets in the Cold War. For Porter Beck, a former Army intelligence officer, the clock is ticking, and bombs come in many forms.A member of the Western Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America, Bruce is a near-lifelong resident of Nevada where he lives with his wife, who he met in the second grade, and all manner of animals. When he’s not writing, you can usually find him on a tennis court somewhere or at his cabin in the mountains of Utah.
