Crime Time at Face In A Book

Please join host Karen A. Phillips on Sunday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. for our Crime Time hour with local crime readers and writers as we discuss what you're reading and writing. Share your trials, tribulations, and joys of the writing process. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or struggling through your first draft, it’s a great chance to network with fellow readers and writers and maybe get a few questions answered. Enjoy the company of others who can’t resist the lure of (fictional) crime!

Face In A Book has graciously offered to host our meeting, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy browsing their shelves. We will also be continuing the conversation at one of the wonderful nearby eateries if you'd like to join us!

Space is limited so please register if you plan on attending.

May 17 - Field Trip to Dorothea Puente House - Limited to 40 people

You’re invited to visit the home once owned by one of the most notorious serial killers from Sacramento – Dorothea Puente. The new owners, Tom Williams and Barbara Holmes, are happy to host Capitol Crimes on a tour with special appearance by retired Homicide Detective John Cabrera, who was the lead detective in the case.

The event will take place from 12:30 - 3:00pm. Ten people will be able to tour the house at a time. When you register, you will select a specific start time. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your tour start time, and plan on staying after your tour until 3:00 for the question and answer session with Detective Cabrera. There will be shade, water, and seating provided, along with giveaways!

Attendance is limited to forty (40) people total. You must be a member to register. One guest is allowed per member, but we ask that if you bring a guest, please bring a reader/writer who might be interested in joining our chapter. This is a wonderful opportunity to recruit new members!

Registration is first come, first served. There will be a waitlist.

Please note the home has stairs (a front and back staircase) and is not wheelchair accessible. The tour will include the outside of the home (wheelchair accessible) where Dorothea buried the bodies.

Parking is limited on residential streets. Please try to carpool and arrive early. The address is: 1426 F St., Sacramento, CA 95814
